-Do /kneel in front of statues of Gods, while your region has favor, talk to the avatar to get bonusses for donations. (there are way 2 many people not knowing this)
-Doubleclick dye and click on your backpack/belt/bags. (totally useless, but you can say to you friends that you successfully dyed the backpack/belt/bags black or white, since you are a moneybags.

drekmonger: Will also work when using a skill:
Hold A or D(Spin around) and while doing that use a skill. You will spin around while using the skill, and still do it after. Have only tried on ranger skills though..

How about the fact that Muddy Terrain used to be an Elite Nature Ritual a long time ago?

If you have an Elonian character and travel to Tyria or Cantha you get a Hero by doing a mission where you land.
Not tried this yet but read it earlier today on another forum so someone else can fill in the details I expect.

Some of it may be wrong but thats the beauty of a forum, people that know different put people straight. Either way, the information you could get from a thread like this can be hard to find elsewhere because it's not the usual info you get in any manual.
I know places like GuildWiki have it all but unless you know what you're looking for you could miss the juicy bits. If someone thinks they know something usefull then I think a thread like this is great to spread the knowledge.
STICKY !!

Here's another one.
Eating Candy Canes can get rid of any death penalty you've got in a mission. They were a christmas item from last year and I dont think (correct me if I'm wrong) you can still buy them? Expect to see them again this year tho (I hope).
EDIT* You CAN still buy them but only from other people (auctions or ingame). Some people still have them from last year. 0.o

Incorrect. Spiked Eggnog lasts 3 seconds, while all other types of alcohol (other than maybe Witches Brew - haven't tried this out yet) lasts only 1 second.

I got something to throw in here...
-Rebirth-
When you res someone with rebirth you can squeeze out a bit more range by moving backwards once you see the white glow from the teleport next to you. It's not hard, you'll get the hang of it fast...
This allows rebirthing someone without catching aggro in very tight spots.

Type /kneel.
Before your knee hits the ground, press "W" and "E" (or Q and W) to move diagonally.
You'll be kneeling and ice skating across the pond until your kneel emote is complete.

This is a point of debate - there is definitely no "should" here.
Defense is better against direct damage.
Fortitude is better against degeneration and armor-ignoring damage.
"Switching in case things start looking bad" won't help you much against a spike.

the last for minutes. not seconds....
no items in your inventory will work in PvP, it would be unfair to get rid of DP, or have an unlimited energy engine for necro's. some wont work even in explorable areas (like the rice cake)
the 2 heroes in tyria and cantha are by no means uncommon knowledge, almost everyone knows about them
alot of these are actually false.
a hammer has more DPS than both a sword and an axe,
the radar is a hell of a lot smaller than 1% of any map
distracting blow doesn't do damage, it doesn't do 0 damage, it doesn't hit at all
how about this one
in skill descriptions, "adjacent", and "adjacent to foe" are 2 different ranges, even though they sound similar

Here's a tip (that many may already know): You can salvage all the mods off of a weapon and still sell the plain weapon for the full price to the merchant. -e.g. Last night i got a gold req 12 fiery dragon sword with a perfect enchant mod. I salvaged the enchant mod and still got the full 342 gold that the merchant offered.
Also you can salvage the rune from a dropped armor and sell the plain armor for the full price to the merchant.
P.S.- I think ALL of the accurate tips the OP posted were useful, whether I already knew them or not. There's bound to be someone that can find the info useful. If you want to add a tip or correct a tip that someone posted, then you're helping, but when you only post "I already knew all of these" or "these aren't little known" you aren't adding anything to this helpful post. It makes me wonder if people are farming for guru titles when they make posts like that. Or are they just being unpleasant?

Consider that there are at over 100 zones in Cantha (source: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Locations_(Factions)). If your radar really displayed 1% of the total world map, each zone would be, on average, no larger than a single radar.
I suspect your estimate of the radar's size is off by several orders of magnitude.
|
You are right. I am a Cartographer and a radar is definitely not 1% of the map. If I remember correctly, a radar is approximately 0.1-0.3% of the map, depending on the campaign and area your at. This is probably a little more accurate.

Use an ID kit on white items before you sell. This may increase the selling price significantly (change can be observed in the merchant window).
Is definitely making money despite kit costs from Kryta onwards - or comparable enemy levels of 10+.
@Cain: /kneel doesn't work in pre searing btw, didn't try the other starting regions.
